Hospital Committee Inquiries

Physicians can find themselves the focus of a hospital committee investigation for a variety of reasons ranging from poor patient outcomes to hostile hospital politics. Regardless of the reason, many physicians do not realize the importance of legal representation until the process has turned adversarial and their privileges have been impacted. Further, hospital committee issues can have a domino effect resulting in reports to the Texas Medical Board, National Practitioner’s Database or even other hospitals. 

Despite its disarming nomenclature, peer review is an administrative process with legal implications. We can provide counsel, preparation and even intervention which may prevent or mitigate potentially devastating consequences to hospital privileges. Quick intervention is often the key to a beneficial outcome, as the legal tools at our disposal become more limited once hospital privileges have been terminated or limited. However, there may still be a possibility of a favorable outcome even when hospital privileges have been summarily terminated.
