Biography

Don Stephens is an attorney who truly enjoys his line of work. Like physicians, he never wishes that anyone would experience an unfortunate circumstance that would require his services but he finds it very rewarding that he has the expertise to assist health care providers in need. Don has spent more than a dozen years focusing on the area of health care law in its various facets. He is a problem solver who refuses to become entrenched in the “one size fits all” mold of some litigators. Each case, or situation, deserves its own distinct strategy.
 
Don Stephens has a broad base of legal experience which provides a unique perspective which benefits his clients. He started his career as an Assistant District Attorney with Brazoria County, drafting and arguing appellate briefs. Don later handled variety of civil cases for the County involving issues from personal injury to civil rights, including completing three federal jury trials before his second year of practice. After leaving the District Attorney’s office he handled civil cases stemming from commercial litigation to personal injury defense before finding his calling in health care law.

Don has represented hundreds of physicians and other health care providers across the State, from Orange to El Paso. Don is a litigator who also has appellate experience defining case law at both the state and federal levels. He primarily focuses on defense of medical malpractice allegations but also handles a variety of health care issues including professional board investigations, insurance disputes, contract disputes, hospital committee/credentialing investigations, federal/state investigations and health care regulatory issues. 

Further, due to demand from his clients, Don also provides a range of transactional services including practice review, contract review, will drafting and probate.
